June 2008 Archives
Before we get into my predictions from last month, I need to remind you that I goofed in making my calculations for who was #1 last month. Original numbers shown to me said that Akon and Michael Jackson were number one, but when I ran the numbers again, it turned out that Madonna was actually the winner for the month. Woot! So, with that being said, I'm throwing out/ignoring the first prediction I had made for this month.
I had said...
1. "4 Minutes" will be #1... see above.
2. "Rock With U" by Janet will debut.... it came close... debuted at #26.
3. "Bleeding Love" will be in the Top 5.... pfft.. it dropped.
4. "Stamp Your Feet" by Donna Summer will debut.... it debuted at #10!
My predictions for July are:
1. The Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up" will debut.
2. Rihanna's "Take A Bow" will debut.
3. The Spice Girls' "Spice Up Your Life 2008" will debut.
4. Madonna's "Give It 2 Me" will debut.
5. Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" will be #1 for August.
Here are the songs that dropped out of the Top 25 this month. This list seems pretty accurate in my opinion. With Mariah having a new single out ("Bye Bye"), we could see a remix soon, and with Inaya Day and Donna Summer having new singles, it is time to retire the older ones.
Tamia - Me
Morgan Page feat. Lissie - The Longest Road
Mariah Carey - Touch My Body
Kat DeLuna feat. Busta Rhymes - Run The Show
Robbie Williams - Lovelight
Ralph Falcon - Break You
DJ Bill Bennett feat. Inaya Day - Breakaway
Altar feat. Jeanie Tracy - Everybody Up
Twisted Dee - Drop That Beat
Donna Summer - I'm A Fire
Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction

This season of American Idol saw the top two contestants landing a total of 12 songs a few weeks ago in the Billboard Top 100. So, it does not surprise me that David Cook, this season's winner, garnishing three spots in my Top 40 for the month of June.
A new release from one of my favorite bands, Coldplay, knocks Leona Lewis out of the top spot for the month. I expected Leona Lewis to be knocked down to around the #10 spot, but she holds her own at #4.
How will next month pan out? Will David Cook become #1? Or will Katy Perry, Rihanna or Little Wayne cause a major upset? Stay tuned...
In no particular order, here are the songs that dropped out of the Top 40 this month. With the debut of three David Cook songs this month, look for a couple of these songs to re-enter the charts next month. My bet is on Gavin DeGraw and Lifehouse.
Miley Cyrus- See You Again
Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music
Buckcherry - Sorry
Alicia Keys - No One
2 Pistols feat. T-Pain & Tay Dizm - She Got It
James Otto - Just Got Started Lovin' You
Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This
Taylor Swift - Our Song
Daughtry - Feels Like Tonight
Lifehouse - Whatever It Takes
Gavin DeGraw - In Love With A Gir
l
Brad Paisley - I'm Still A Guy
Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
Finger Eleven - Paralyzer
Ashanti - The Way That I Love You
Taylor Swift - Picture To Burn

I had been waiting all year to see her in concert and the big night finally came. I went to the concert with very high expectations and my girl, Deborah Cox, did not disappoint. Not only did she do a great job, but she sang the remix versions of all her hits. The climax of the night was her last number, "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here." The crowd went absolutely fucking wild. I tried to catch the song on video, but the sound quality is horrible. I may post it at a later date.
Deborah did tell everyone that she has a new CD coming out this fall. She sang a song from it, which, of course, was very dance/club oriented. Her perfomance made my entire weekend worth going. Take THAT, 2Unlimited! (see previous post)
When I heard that 2Unlimited, a pop dance duo from the 80's, was going to be at Pride, I got very excited. I could not wait to see them. However, when the performance started, I was immediately disappointed.
The flashback to the 80's was great and all, but the singers were still stuck in that decade themselves. The female dancer kept dancing "The Robot" and "The Running Man" (ish) while attempting to vogue and run all over the stage. The male singer did a bit better and played more to the crowd.
The other thing I did not care for was the fact that the singers sang along with a CD track of their songs. Meaning, you heard the vocals (NOT just background vocals) from the CD and you heard the live singing on top of that. Ugh! Only when they did new material, did it seem that the only voices you heard was from the live vocalists.
The performance reminded me a bit of the time that RuPaul was here a few years ago. It was just him on stage. No band. No back up dancers. Just her and an audio track... and 126 costume changes.
Tonight is Deborah Cox in concert... I hope it is much better.
